Project Overview

The Garden House, (formerly Plantagen Garden centre) commenced trading 24th October 2013. A new 5 Star Garden centre located on the outskirts of Malahide, the Garden House contracted Radius Telecom to design, implement and support a cost effective, site wide wireless Telecoms solution.

The new system needed to cover the entire site and allow sales staff to make and take calls while continuing to assist customers. The wireless handsets needed to integrate seamlessly with the office hardwired system allowing users to move freely around the site while on a call.

The system was designed to utilise the latest in Voice carriers technologies, VoIP, SIP trunks and SIP cordless extensions, while minimising the monthly call charges.

Technology Deployed

Panasonic NCP 500v with 12 digital handsets, 6 x SIP cordless handsets, 2 x mobile SIP Smart phone licenses, 1 x dual GSM gateway and 4 channel SIP provider.

The new system was installed on the internal structured cable network in the offices and utilises a wireless voice network when staff are working throughout the site. The voice VLAN uses the same wireless access points and managed switches as the data and public Wi-Fi network, sharing system resources and ensuring quality of service on all calls. The SIP cordless handsets operate as wireless portable handsets, while the SIP smart phone licenses allow the managers to be contactable on their smart phones while off site. The smart phones are seen as an extension of the new system.

‘3’ Mobile sim cards were installed as the GSM provider (masking the calls with the main Landline number) while Blueface was installed as the VoIP carrier.
