The Cyber Criminals don’t seem to have taken a break for the new year! The latest scam we have come across is one purporting to come from Vodafone warning you to pay now or your account will be suspended. These emails were not issued by Vodafone.
The email says:
Those who fall for the trick and click one of the links in the expectation of viewing their bill, will be taken to a fake login page designed to emulate the genuine Vodafone website. After they have provided their Account type, username and password and click the submit button, a “Thank you for updating your account” message will be displayed in the victim’s browser.
This scam is designed to trick users into divulging their account login details to Internet criminals. Armed with the stolen data, the criminals can hijack the compromised Vodafone accounts, steal any personal and financial information stored within, and use the accounts for further fraudulent activities.
If you have received this email, flag it as spam and delete it. Do not click any of the links in it. You can find official Vodafone advice on phishing on their website.
