Messages have started to circulate  suggesting that Facebook/ WhatsApp will soon start charging for its services.

At the start of the year, WhatsApp released a statement earlier this year to say that they will not be charging it’s customers. Facebook relies on keeping it’s service free for users.

If you receive one of these messages, delete the message immediately instead of passing it on.

The most recent of these scams is a message that says Facebook is going to become chargeable.

The message reads: ‘From Saturday morning facebook will become chargeable. If you have at least 10 contacts send them this message. In this way we will see that you are an avid user and your logo will become blue and will remain free.

‘As discussed in the paper today. Facebook will cost 0.01ps per message. Send this message to 10 people. When you do the light will turn blue otherwise facebook will activate billing.’

WhatsApp have said ‘We always advise you to block the sender, disregard the message and delete it’.

The messages are a scam trying to take personal information from people, so if you have received one of these messages, delete it and ignore it. For more tips about staying safe online please read here.
