This week (21/12/2016) we have become aware of fraudulent emails and SMS (text messages) purporting to come from the Bank of Ireland seeking personal information from customers in connection with the expiration of your online bank account.
These emails were not issued by the Bank of Ireland.
Financial Institutions never send emails or text messages requiring customers to send personal information via email, text, or pop-up windows. They will also never ask you for your whole pin code.
Anyone who receives an email purporting to be from BOI and suspects it to be fraudulent or a scam should simply delete it.
Anyone who provided personal information in response to these fraudulent emails should contact their bank immediately.
